Kuala Lumpur, 8 March 2025 – In a significant effort to enhance technological advancement and engineering solutions across the developing world, the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET) and the Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World (AETDEW) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The strategic partnership outlined in the MOU aims to address critical challenges that developing nations face through engineering innovations and technological advances. AAET Senior Fellow and Academician Mr Goh Peng Ooi hosted this noteworthy event at Zezz Residence. Approximately 25 distinguished Fellows from AAET and AETDEW attended, underscoring the importance of this collaborative initiative.
President Ir Professor Dato Dr Ewe Hong Tat and Secretary General Ir Datuk Yong Ah Huat represented AAET, while President Ir Ts Choo Kok Beng and Secretary General Ir Ts Louis Tay Chee Siong signed on behalf of AETDEW. The esteemed founder of both AAET and AETDEW, Dato Lee Yee Cheong, was present to witness the ceremony. Executive Secretaries Dr Fok Kuk Fai from AAET and Dr Yap Kian Lim from AETDEW oversee and coordinate the MOU.
Key objectives of this partnership include facilitating knowledge exchange, fostering collaborative research, supporting capacity-building initiatives, and enhancing professional networking opportunities for engineers and technologists.
AAET and AETDEW expressed optimism that the collaboration will significantly contribute to sustainable development, benefiting communities throughout ASEAN and the broader developing world.
The MOU signing ceremony concluded with a social networking dinner, providing AAET and AETDEW members with enjoyable and informal discussions.
